If we accept catastrophism, this reasonably leads to a shortened view of earth history and a young earth. One example is the speedy formation of stalactites in Gnome Cave, New Mexico. Alan Holland (Philosophy Dept., Lancaster Univ.) in his paper "Darwin and the Meaning of Life" revealed Darwin's Achilles' heel:
It has often been thought, and has recently been argued, that one of the most profound impacts of Darwin's theory of evolution is the threat that it poses to the very possibility of living a meaningful, and therefore worthwhile, life. ... [some derive meaning] based on a belief in providence, and hold that we must transcend the exclusively Darwinian worldview if we are to find meaning.
